1. Who we are and what this is
Virtual Lovers (“we”, “us”) runs an online service where adults can meet fictional AI companion characters (“avatars”), plan activities with them, and receive pictures, short videos and voices created by AI (“Activities”). By creating an account or using the service you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.
2. Who can use Virtual Lovers
You must be at least 18 years old, and of legal age in the place where you live, to use the service. Some parts, such as Hot Nights, are for adults only and ask you to confirm this on screen before you continue. One account is for one person. Please use an email address that belongs to you so we can reach you about your account.
3. Your account
When you sign up we create a password and a recovery code for you and show them once. Please store them somewhere safe. You are responsible for what happens under your account, so do not share it. If you think someone else has access, write to us at [email protected] and we will help.
4. The companions are AI
The avatars are fictional characters made with artificial intelligence. They are not real people, do not depict real people, and their words, pictures and voices are generated, so they can be imperfect or surprising.
Virtual Lovers is for companionship and enjoyment. It is not medical, psychological, legal or financial advice, and it is not a crisis service. If you are struggling or feel unsafe, please reach out to someone you trust or to local support. For example, in the US you can call or text 988, in the UK you can call Samaritans on 116 123, and in Japan you can call the Yorisoi Hotline on 0120-279-338. In an emergency, contact your local emergency number.
5. Diamonds
Diamonds are a virtual unit used inside Virtual Lovers to plan Activities. They have no cash value and cannot be transferred, sold or exchanged for money. You receive Diamonds when you join and a free top-up of 5,000 Diamonds each week. Unused Diamonds stay in your account. We may change how many Diamonds are given in the future and will tell you in the app first. How Diamonds are reserved, spent and returned is explained on our Diamonds & Cancellations page.
6. What you create and what you get
You may type words for an avatar to say or describe things you would like. You keep your rights in what you write. You allow us to use it only to create your Activities and to run and protect the service.
The pictures, videos and voices created for you are for your personal, non-commercial use. You may download them. Please do not publish or share them in ways that break the law or harm others.
7. Keeping things safe for everyone
To keep Virtual Lovers safe and lawful, you agree not to:
- create or request anything involving people under 18, or characters who appear to be under 18;
- create content that depicts or imitates a real person, or use a real person’s name, face or voice;
- use the service for anything illegal, for harassment, or to promote harm to real people;
- try to break, overload or bypass the service, or use automated tools to access it;
- share your account or use another person’s account.
Within the law, what you choose to enjoy privately with your companion is up to you. If an account breaks these rules we may pause or close it, and where the law requires it we may report serious matters to the authorities.
8. The service itself
We work hard to keep Virtual Lovers available, but we cannot promise it will always be uninterrupted or error free. We may improve, change, pause or retire features, and we will try to tell you in advance about important changes. You can stop using the service at any time and ask us to delete your account.
9. Our rights
The Virtual Lovers name, design, software, characters and other content we provide belong to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, limited licence to use the service as these Terms allow.
10. Responsibility
We provide the service “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable or that come from your use of the service in breach of these Terms. Nothing in these Terms limits any right you have by law, including consumer rights that cannot be waived where you live, or responsibility that cannot be limited by law.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. We will change the date at the top and, for important changes, tell you in the app before they take effect. If you keep using Virtual Lovers after that, you accept the updated Terms.
